Main properties of Shatavari

Ayurveda signifies Asparagus racemosus, as an important herb to treat disorders affecting women’s health and classify it as:

  • Medhya: Enhancing intelligence, promoting learning and memory
  • Rasayana: Improving health by increasing immunity, vitality and resistance. It acts as rejuvenator and imparts longevity as well as helps in reducing stress.  
  • Balya: As strength promoter
  • Stanya: As a galactogogue  (induces milk secretion)
  • Jeevaniya- As an erythropoietic

The modern Ayurvedic practices utilizes the roots of herb as antispasmodic, appetizer, stomach tonic, aphrodisiac, galactogogue, astringent, antidiarrheal, anti-dysenteric, laxative, anticancer, anti-inflammatory, blood purifier, anti-tubercular, antiepileptic and night blindness, kidney problems and throat complaints.
