Halitosis

Halitosis - bad breath - modern and Ayurvedic view of treatment

Halitosis, often known as halitosis, is a condition in which bad breath occurs, which can have serious social and emotional consequences. Symptoms of this disease may include bad breath, dry mouth, insecurity and impaired self-esteem.

Causes of origin

From the point of view of modern medicine, the causes of halitosis can be diverse, including neglected oral hygiene regime, periodontal disease, caries, inflammatory conditions in the oral cavity, respiratory tract infections, but also the consumption of certain foods and drinks.

From an Ayurvedic point of view, halitosis is associated with impaired digestion and imbalance in the digestive tract. According to Ayurvedic texts, the cause of this disease can be the excessive production of toxins (ama) in the body, which can lead to the formation of bad breath. According to Ayurveda, the causes of halitosis are often associated with the state of Agni, which is the digestive fire. If Agni is weakened or out of balance, incomplete digestion of food occurs, causing the formation of toxins and impurities (ama). These toxins are subsequently manifested as an unpleasant odor in the oral cavity.

The solution to this problem according to Ayurvedic principles involves strengthening Agni, cleaning the digestive tract and removing accumulated toxins. This is achieved using herbs and plant extracts with cleansing and detoxifying properties such as Triphala, Amalaki, Bibhitaki, Haritaki, Tulsi and others. These herbs help promote healthy digestive function, eliminate toxins and restore balance in the digestive tract.

Recommended herbs

  1. Triphala (Amalaki, Bibhitaki and Haritaki): this traditional Ayurvedic preparation contains a combination of three powerful fruit herbs that support the digestive system and eliminate toxins from the body. 2. Digestion Support (Amla, Haritaki, Bahera, Sounf, Dhania, Pippali, Jeerak): this supplement contains a blend of herbs that support digestion and improve the function of the digestive tract. They help relieve bloating, flatulence and support the cleanliness of the digestive system, which can have a beneficial effect on bad breath.

Suitable diet and lifestyle

Modern medicine also recommends regular cleaning of the teeth, tongue and gums, proper oral hygiene, drinking enough water and limiting the consumption of foods and drinks that can contribute to bad breath. From the point of view of Ayurveda, it is important to follow a balanced diet that supports the proper function of the digestive system and the elimination of toxins. At the same time, it is important to follow a regular regimen of oral hygiene and tongue cleaning.

It is usually effective to combine natural remedies with proper diet and oral hygiene to achieve the best results in the treatment of halitosis. Herbal supplements from Planet Ayurveda can be a valuable support in solving this problem, providing a natural and holistic alternative to traditional treatment methods.
